The Bangladesh Canada Friendship Society (BCFS) joyfully celebrated Bengali New Year 1433 on April 26, 2026, at the LeBrun Community Center, bringing together community members for a day filled with culture, creativity, and connection.
The অনুষ্ঠান (celebration) featured a lively lineup of performances by both children and adults, showcasing traditional music, dance, and cultural expressions that highlighted the rich heritage of Bangladesh. Young performers, in particular, captured the hearts of the audience with their enthusiasm and talent.
A special highlight of the day was a surprise magic show dedicated to the children, adding an extra layer of excitement and wonder to the festivities. The event created a warm, family-friendly atmosphere where attendees of all ages could enjoy and participate.
Visitors also explored a vibrant marketplace featuring 8 food stalls offering a variety of delicious Bangladeshi cuisine, alongside 4 stalls dedicated to clothing and jewelry, celebrating traditional fashion and craftsmanship.
The event was graced by the presence of the Honourable Lena Diab, Minister of Immigration, whose attendance underscored the importance of cultural diversity, inclusion, and community engagement across Nova Scotia.
BCFS extends its gratitude to all volunteers, performers, vendors, and attendees who contributed to making the celebration a memorable success. The organization continues its mission to promote cultural awareness, unity, and community spirit across the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Shubho Noboborsho! (Happy Bengali New Year!)
