Safe Landing

Summary

Safe Landing is an initiative of BCFS designed to help newcomers in Halifax. Halifax has become a very attractive place for newcomers over the last several years. Therefore, having a comprehensive plan to support the newcomers to get settled in this city is simply inevitable. BCFS is proud to take this initiative named as Safe Landing.

The planning and execution model was highly appreciated by the leaders of Halifax. Please stay tuned to receive further updates on the Safe Landing project.

BCFS Volunteer Ride Pool will provide airport pick-up if any volunteer driver is available during your arrival time – please contact us to make a request. BCFS will confirm Airport pick-up through email confirmation.
BCFS recognizes Airbnb is popular in Halifax for new immigrants due to convenience and positive experience. BCFS recommends immigrant to have Airbnb reservation at Clayton Park or Bedford residential while they are looking for few weeks’ accommodation. Please read the terms & conditions before you book a place – few listing has food, kids and number of occupant restrictions. If someone is looking for 2-3 days accommodation and having difficulty to get a suitable Airbnb then BCFS volunteers may consider to open their doors – please contact us to make a request.
BCFS recognizes it is important to have a local resident as a reference and guide to get important documents like SIN Card, Medical Card, Government ID, Bank Account etc. BCFS Volunteer Resource Pool will assist and provide reference for the new immigrants to get their crucial documents. Please contact us to make a request.
BCFS understand it is difficult for the new immigrants to get tenant lease agreement for an apartment when they do not have job and credit history in Canada. BCFS Volunteer Guarantors Panel will provide support for the lease application as long as the primary applicant meets the minimum requirements. Please contact us to make a request for a guarantor.
